Gerard Pique: ‘Dani Alves convinced Neymar to join PSG at Messi’s wedding’

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has this evening revealed that former teammate Dani Alves persuaded Neymar to leave Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

Record-breaking deal

With the dust having now settled following Neymar’s 222 million Euro switch to the Parc des Princes last week, the Brazilian superstar has continued to insist that the final decision to move was made solely by him, and without the influence of his father or any players.

PSG teammate Dani Alves, who also made the move to the French capital this summer, has since suggested that Neymar actually persuaded him to join Unai Emery’s side, and not vice-versa.

New info

However, according to Gerard Pique, who spent multiple seasons playing with both of the aforementioned Selecao stars, Alves may not have been entirely honest in his take on events.

According to a report from Spanish outlet Cope this afternoon, Pique revealed:

‘It was Dani Alves who convinced Neymar to go to PSG at Messi’s wedding.’

Should this be proven as true, it would stand as yet another reason for supporters of Barcelona to hold a grudge towards Alves, with the always controversial Brazilian having taking aim at his former side with scathing remarks on a number of occasions in the past.
