Sander Berge made the switch to Genk in January of 2017.
Since joining the Belgian outfit, Berge has showcased his immense talent both domestically and in Europe.
The 21-year-old defensive midfielder has featured 113 times across all competitions for Genk, scoring six and assisting four in said ties.
The Norwegian international was particularly impressive in the Champions League this term.
Genk failed to win any of their six group games this season, but Berge was one of their standout talents.
Two of those ties came against current Champions League holders Liverpool.
After the two sides faced off at Anfield, Genk’s sporting director Dimitri De Conde claimed that Liverpool are interested in the promising young talent:
“We also know that Liverpool are interested and [Jurgen] Klopp, after the game at Anfield [in the Champions League], complimented him on his performance.” As quoted by Goal.
Chelsea were also linked with Berge earlier this season.

Sheffield United have bid turned down
However, with the winter window in full swing, it appears that another Premier League outfit are showing an interest in the Genk standout.
The Blades are having a superb season back in the English top-flight, and currently sit just one point adrift of 5th place. As such, adding someone of Berge’s talent to their ranks would certainly show that Chris Wilder’s side mean business this campaign.
The report from VG claims that Sheffield United’s rejected bid was worth around 200m NOK, which works out at around £16.9m
