Manchester United legend Gary Neville believes that the club is now ready to compete with Barcelona and Real Madrid for their top transfer targets.
The Red Devil’s have made several big signings over the past few years in the likes of Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku and even Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Jose Mourinho’s summer signings consisted of Nemanja Matic, Victor Lindelof and Lukaku as they spent close to £200million.
Now, with their recent spending power as well as their upturn in performances this season, Gary Neville believes it is time for the side to compete with the big boys over some of the biggest talents in football.
‘Manchester United, in my mind, should always be challenging for the best players in the world,’ he told Sky Sports.
“The argument is that always Barcelona and Real Madrid if they do want someone they will get them and that has played itself out over the last 10/15 years but United are now financially challenging.”
“They are paying the sums they need to pay to attract the best players in the world.”

Man United in the fray for midfielder
One player that Manchester United are looking to compete for could well be on the move soon.
The young central midfielder is looking to run his contract down with his current club and will move for free next summer.
Man United, rivals Man City, Bayern, Barcelona and more are said to be interested in signing the player.
Though, Manchester United will be looking to use their financial ability to convince the player of a move to Old Trafford.
Safe to say, they will have their work cut out if they are to beat the likes of Bayern and Barca to the player.
