Gary Neville has hit out at Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, and claimed that Liverpool will never win the league with the stopper in net.
He said that not only does he ‘not need to speak about him’ but that everyone makes mistakes from time to time – however, the Reds keeper makes far too many of them, and it will end up costing Liverpool each season, to the point where they miss out on trophies and titles because of it.
“I don’t need to speak about the Liverpool goalkeeper anymore.
“I think he’s a half-decent goalkeeper but I genuinely do believe that over the last few years if Liverpool had two decent centre-backs and a good goalkeeper, over the last five years, they would have won the league.
“You can not make mistakes like that. Everyone makes mistakes but how many times have we been talking about this now? Three years?
“I’ve got nothing else to say on the matter and I know I’m paid as a pundit to come on and talk about it.”
Of course, the other issue that arose from the Arsenal game was the fact that Liverpool’s defence collapsed once again, and while Dejan Lovren had a good game – especially by his standards, it seems that a two goal lead isn’t enough for the Reds to be able to win a game.
That must worry manager Klopp, especially when it comes to the Champions League, given that away goals are so vital, and time and time again Liverpool end up letting them in and it does cost them on the big occasions – as seen this season both in terms of the Champions League and also in the Premier League.
