Gary Neville labels Arsenal starlet more “clinical” than Cristiano Ronaldo after Villa display

Arsenal dismantle Aston Villa

Arsenal produced their best performance of the season thus far as they blew away Aston Villa by a 3-1 scoreline.

Although the scoreline is perhaps not reflective of the performance, it was nonetheless a much-needed win for Mikel Arteta and his side, after back-to-back draws.

Thomas Partey opened the scoring from a corner, before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang netted a rebound having seen his initial penalty saved by former Arsenal man Emi Martinez right on half-time.

A third was added by Emile Smith Rowe, courtesy of a Tyrone Mings deflection, and while a brilliant finish from Jacob Ramsay for Aston Villa pulled one back, it was the Gunners that deservedly took all three points from the encounter.

Gary Neville full of praise for Emile Smith Rowe

One man singled out for praise by SkySports pundits Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher was young English talent, Emile Smith Rowe.

The 21-year-old, who was a thorn in the Villains’ side all night, was on the cusp of selection for the England squad during the last international break, and it is clear to see why.

Jamie Carragher claimed that the youngster was the best dribbler in the Premier League after the game.

Gary Neville went one better, however, and claimed that Smith-Rowe was more clinical than Cristiano Ronaldo at the same age, saying:

“Everything that Smith Rowe [wants to be], he’s a beautiful footballer Smith Rowe, and he’s got a long way to go in his career. Cristiano Ronaldo wasn’t as clinical and ruthless at that age.

“But that’s where he has got to get to. To the point where by every single game, they want to be the best. They want to score the winner. They believe they are going to score the winner. Confidence is unbelievable.”

Can Smith Rowe continue his meteoric rise, and become one of the best players in world football?
