Clash of Titans
Manchester United legend Gary Neville has revealed how Jose Mourinho’s side will come out on top against Liverpool this weekend.
Both sides go into the game needing a win, with Liverpool just two points behind them.
A win for either side would see that team go second in the Premier League as the clubs below Manchester City battle it out for the runners-up spot.
Liverpool have won four of their last five Premier League games while Man United go into the game off the back of three wins in five.
Their last win came very late in the game against Crystal Palace with a Nemanja Matic strike in added time.
Though, Gary Neville is confident going into the game this weekend.
“I always fancy United at home,” he explained on Sky Sports.
“With Liverpool, you have to get through that first half an hour, especially at Anfield, where they are a completely different proposition.
“I’ve always thought that for Liverpool away from home they struggled with the size of the pitch, despite them not being hugely different on paper.
“It’s a lot harder for United to play at Anfield and a lot harder for Liverpool to play at Old Trafford, so I fancy United to win.
“Jose Mourinho has two big games in four days that will define the rest of the season – against Liverpool and Sevilla. How strong he goes in both remains to be seen.”
When asked about whether the sides could see a repeat of October’s 0-0 clash, Neville certainly hopes not.
“It cannot be like that. It’s got to be better.”
The biggest rivalry in football, Manchester United vs Liverpool FC. These two clubs put English football on the map. I’d like to request one thing: That we leave the Munich air disaster & Hillsborough disaster away from the banter and game itself.
