Garth Crooks & Paul Pogba
Every Monday Garth Crooks posts his Premier League XI on the BBC’s website.
Crooks is often known for espousing controversial opinions which wind up fans.
Back at the end of October, Crooks made waves after criticising Man United midfielder Paul Pogba.
Man United star’s hair
After Stoke drew 2-2 with Man United in the Premier League earlier this season, Crooks set upon Pogba.
The BBC pundit was upset by Pogba’s hairdo, as he wrote the following:
I also want to discuss Paul Pogba’s new hairstyle, which features a red streak. I only mention it because he clearly wants to bring it to our attention. There is so much for the midfielder to do at United and he still insists on behaving like an adolescent.
Granted, a hairstyle is not going to determine how well he can control a ball or make a pass, but it does say something about where his mind is at the moment. If you are going to attract attention to yourself on a football pitch do it with goals and performances, not cheap gimmicks and marketing tricks.
Pogba returned for Man United on Saturday in the 4-1 win over Newcastle.
Pogba was superb against the Magpies. He scored and chalked up an assist in the Magpies game.

BBC pundit eats humble pie
Crooks picked Pogba in his weekly XI, and he felt compelled to once again talk about the French international’s appearance.
That lead Crooks into the following limited apology:
I have no time for his hairstyles and even less time for the dancing exhibitions. They are for beauty parlours and catwalks.
What I do enjoy, though, is a footballer who can produce moments of magic with a football at his feet.
There is no doubt that Paul Pogba’s return to the Manchester United line-up was as empathic against Newcastle as it was stylish, and so it should be.
It would have been vindictive of me not to pick Pogba. I refuse to allow a poor rendition of John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever with a poor haircut to stop me from producing an honest selection, but I do so through gritted teeth.
