Southgate set to switch it up
England boss Gareth Southgate is set to make a big tactical change for the game against Croatia tonight as their potential defence is revealed.
The Wembley side have travelled to Croatia to take on Zlatko Dalić’s side in the Nations League.
The last time the two sides met was in the World Cup Semi-finals where Croatia sent Gareth Southgate’s side out of the tournament.
The Three Lions did go home with pride, however, having gone as far as any England team had done in the past 20 years.
Now, Southgate’s side is looking for some revenge when the two meet on Friday evening.
Reverting back to four in defence
Though, it may be a different England side than we are used to.
That is because Gareth Southgate is reportedly considering reverting back to four defenders.
England have found much success with a back three but they will now try something different.
That is according to journalist Matt Law who suggested on Twitter that Southgate is considering a back four.
That back four would also consist of Kyle Walker, John Stones, Harry Maguire and Ben Chilwell.
Southgate considering moving back to a back four tomorrow night – walker, stones, maguire, chilwell. Barkley to start in midfield.

Matt Law also suggested that Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley will be given his chance to shine by starting the game.
It’s worth mentioning that the team news is not yet confirmed.
We will see tonight whether Southgate decides to stick with the tried and tested or go for something new.
Whatever the case, England will be looking for revenge in Croatia this evening.
