Naughty Dele Alli
Gareth Southgate gave a truly laughable excuse for Dele Alli’s behaviour during England’s 2-1 win over Slovakia in their World Cup Qualifier at Wembley. The Tottenham midfielder was caught on camera acting inappropriately.
Seemingly annoyed about a challenge from Martin Skrtel that wasn’t given as a foul, TV cameras picked up Alli sticking up his middle finger at someone off screen. It is suspected that it was directed at the referee.
However, Southgate brushed off Alli’s gesture and said it was meant for England teammate Kyle Walker: “Dele and Kyle were mucking about and maybe Dele gestured towards Kyle… they have a strange way of communicating.”

It’s a pretty strange excuse to give. It makes one wonder why Southgate didn’t opt to not comment at all.
Alli could face a FIFA investigation focusing on whether or not his abusive gesture was directed at the referee.
