Gareth Bale

Gareth Bale’s Man United move supported by Real Madrid fans

Kylian Mbappe & Real Madrid

The repercussions from the astounding news this week that Real Madrid are ready to shatter the world transfer record on Monaco’s 18-year-old striker Kylian Mbappe continues to focus minds in Spain.

Should the deal come to fruition, many are wondering how Zinedine Zidane will line up his team.

Will Mbappe get into Real’s attack? And if so, which of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema or Gareth Bale will miss out?

And what about Marco Asensio? And Isco?

Benzema going nowhere

According to Marca on Thursday, 29-year-old Benzema is going nowhere.

Under contract at the Santiago Bernabeu until 2019, the front page of the paper claims that Benzema is closing in on a new contract with Los Blancos.

The message is clear: even if Mbappe arrives, Benzema stays.

Gareth Bale & Man United

So could Bale be the fall-guy?

As soon at the Mbappe-Real story, people started to speculate that the former Tottenham star could move to Man United, and the Spanish media have been playing with the possible transfer story ever since.

On Wednesday, Spanish daily AS claimed Jose Mourinho wants to bring Bale to Old Trafford.

On Thursday, the paper returns with another Bale-United story, reporting that in a poll of Real Madrid fans conducted by AS, 72% of the voters supported Bale’s move to the Theatre of Dreams.

Of course, this is all just idle chatter. When it comes to the reality of the deal coming to pass, there appears to be little chance of Bale returning to the Premier League anytime soon.
