Fulham awarded £4 million and a 20% sell on clause from Liverpool in Harvey Elliott tribunal

Fulham awarded £4 million and a 20% sell on clause from Liverpool in Harvey Elliott tribunal

Fulham receive verdict

The Athletic are reporting that teenage sensation Harvey Elliott’s tribunal has ended, with Fulham to receive £4 million, plus 20% of any sell-on fee which Liverpool may secure for the player.

Elliott signed for Liverpool as a 16-year-old in the summer of 2019, but the two clubs were unable to come to an agreement regarding compensation, meaning the transfer was sent to a tribunal, which started earlier this week. This often occurs when players under the age of 24 move between clubs at the end of their contracts, and the clubs are unable to agree on a fair fee.

Elliott has made nine appearances for Liverpool since making the move to Anfield, and holds the record as the youngest-ever Premier League player, having lined out for Fulham at 16 years and 30 days old in 2019.

He is currently on a season-long loan with Championship club Blackburn Rovers, where he has scored four goals and provided eight assists in 22 appearances.

Fulham hoped for record

Fulham had hoped to break the record sum awarded to Burnley in 2015, when Danny Ings made the move to Liverpool. The Clarets received £8 million, which was made up of an initial £6.5 million, and a further 1.5 in add-ons.

Fulham may well feel aggrieved that such a talent has been taken on the cheap, whereas Liverpool will be pleased with bagging a potential star for the club in the future.
