Fresh Arsenal injury updates ahead of Brentford

Arsenal take on Brentford on Wednesday in the third round of the League Cup.

Ahead of the clash, Arsenal have posted injury updates on several of their players.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan & Sokratis

The two names Arsenal fans will be most concerned with and the two names most likely to be fit for the clash are Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Sokratis.

Sokratis has started every Premier League game for Arsenal this season, including their last vs Everton.

The Gunners came away 2-0 winners, but Sokratis would be taken off in the 39th minute due to injury.

It has since been revealed that Sokratis suffered a dead leg in the clash with Everton.

However, the Gunners could well have Sokratis back in time for their matchup with Brentford.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan, on the other hand, did not make the matchday squad vs Everton.

This was because Mkhitaryan was suffering from an ankle problem picked up in Arsenal’s Europa League win on Thursday vs FC Vorskla.

But Mkhitaryan is also continuing to be assessed and the playmaker could also feature in Wednesday’s cup tie.

Unai Emery

Arsenal vs Brentford

Given that Arsenal are unlikely to win the Premier League this season, Unai Emery could well target the League Cup this season.

It is a very winnable trophy for a team such as Arsenal and would no doubt get the fans on his side, should Emery bring home some silverware in his first season.

Arsenal also come into this game in good form.

The Gunners did lose their first two games of the season vs Manchester City and Chelsea.

Since then, they have picked up five wins in a row vs West Ham, Cardiff, Newcastle, FC Vorskla and Everton.

As for Brentford, they have played nine, won four, drew three and lost two in the Championship this season.
