Frank Lampard provides update on Chelsea trio ahead of Burnley

Ajax vs Chelsea

Chelsea are set to face off with Ajax on Wednesday, in their 3rd Champions League clash of the season.

Frank Lampard’s ventures as a manager in Europe have gotten off to a decent start.

The Blues would lose their first CL game of the season vs Valencia.

However, Lampard then guided his side to a 2-1 victory over Lille in France.

Chelsea are now sat 3rd in Group H as they prepare to face Ajax, who top the group after picking up victories in their opening two outings.

Lampard’s update on Barkley, Kante & Rudiger

Ahead of the Ajax tie, Frank Lampard held his pre-match press conference on Tuesday.

During the press conference, Lampard would provide an update on three Chelsea players.

N’Golo Kante, Antonio Rudiger and Ross Barkley have all been omitted from Chelsea’s squad to take on Ajax.

Chelsea’s traveling squad in full:

Kepa Arrizabalaga, Marcos Alonso, Jorginho, Tammy Abraham, Willian, Willy Caballero, Kurt Zouma, Mateo Kovacic, Olivier Giroud, Mason Mount, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Christian Pulisic, Michy Batshuayi, Reece James, Cesar Azpilicueta, Fikayo Tomori, Jamie Cumming, Emerson Palmieri, Billy Gilmour

But, despite the aforementioned trio not making the trip to Ajax, Lampard has spoken about their availability ahead of the weekend, when Chelsea will take on Burnley.

Lampard is hopeful that Barkley will be fit to train by Thursday.

Rudiger trained with Chelsea on Tuesday, but Lampard claims that the German will be out of contention for the weekend.

Finally, N’Golo Kante is training, but Lampard said that Chelsea will have to wait and see if the Frenchman is available for the weekend:

“Ross will hopefully be fit to train by Thursday, Rudiger trained with us today, he will be out of contention for the weekend. N’Golo is similarly training but we’ll see for the weekend.”
