Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has this afternoon provided a fitness update on his squad, ahead of their meeting with Norwich City.
Norwich vs Chelsea
Lampard’s men are set to travel to Carrow Road for tomorrow’s early kick-off, with the Blues still in search of their first win of the campaign.
Chelsea followed their opening day drubbing at the hands of Manchester United with a further defeat in the UEFA Super Cup versus Liverpool, and a disappointing draw at home to Leicester last time out.
After looking absolutely dominant during the early exchanges of their meeting with the Foxes last weekend, Chelsea faded badly as the clash wore on, eventually allowing Wilfred Ndidi to cancel out Mason Mount’s opener.
As such, as things stand, the Londoners sit in 15th-spot in the Premier League table.
And Chelsea’s hopes of turning things around this weekend have not been aided by the club’s latest news on the personnel front.
Speaking in a press conference ahead of his side’s clash with Norwich, Frank Lampard was this afternoon asked for an update on his squad.
And the English tactician went on to confirm that star midfielder N’Golo Kante is a doubt to feature tomorrow.
Frenchman Kante has been struggling with a persistent knee problem for some time now.
The 28-year-old will therefore be a game-time decision at Carrow Road.
One player who is certain to miss out, meanwhile, is Antonio Rudiger.
There had been optimism that the German stopper may return to the Chelsea fold versus Norwich, after completing 90 minutes for the Blues’ development squad during the week, on the back of a long-term injury layoff.
Rudiger, though, will not be available until next week at the earliest:
Frank says N’Golo Kante has an injury and will be assessed before the Norwich game. It is hoped Antonio Rudiger will be fit and available next week.#NORCHE
