Frank Lampard previews Chelsea vs Barcelona
Chelsea’s all-time leading goalscorer, Frank Lampard, has previewed the Chelsea vs Barcelona match on Tuesday in the Evening Standard.
The Blues and Barca have a long history of meeting in the world’s premier club competition.
After the first leg at Stamford Bridge this week, Barca will host Chelsea at the Camp Nou in a fortnight.
Can Chelsea cause a major upset and knockout Ernesto Valverde’s side?
Barcelona, who haven’t lost in 31 matches, are most people’s favourites to go through.
‘Chelsea’s Leo Messi fear’
There’s one Leo Messi stat which is rather remarkable heading into Tuesday’s fixture.
In seven matches against Chelsea, Messi has never found the target.
Do the Blues have the hoodoo over the Argentine? Or is it a case of ‘Messi hasn’t scored until he does’.

For Frank Lampard, he believes Chelsea need to be “worried” about Messi finally breaking his duck:
Lionel Messi will be more motivated than usual at Stamford Bridge tonight and that has to be a big worry for Chelsea.
The last thing you want to do is give Messi a bit of a challenge for him to overcome and he will have the bit between his teeth to get off the mark.
For me, the Argentina international is the greatest player of all time and Chelsea will have to pay special attention to him.
Of course, some may react by saying ‘no sh*t Sherlock!’
How will Barcelona line up?
These days Barcelona play a 4-4-2 formation.
Messi is deployed in a central role alongside his strike partner Luis Suarez.
Perhaps the biggest question for Barca before the Chelsea game is to work out who their fourth midfielder will be.
With Philippe Coutinho is ineligible to play, Andres Iniesia, Ivan Rakitic and Sergio Busquets are certain starters. The final spot in the team could go to either Paulinho or Andre Gomes.
