Frank De Boer reveals why he turned down chance to manage Liverpool

Rejecting Liverpool

Football is full of ‘what ifs’. What if Leicester City never decided to appoint Claudio Ranieri? What if Manchester United sacked Sir Alex Ferguson before that first title opened the floodgates?

Here’s another one: What if Frank De Boer accepted the Liverpool job back in 2012?

Speaking to the Daily Mail, De Boer revealed why he turned it down: “I would love to manage here but the project has to be right. I told Liverpool I was honoured but I was only one year in at Ajax, it was too soon.

“I needed to achieve more, and I did.”

De Boer went on to win another three titles with the Eredivisie giants. He then had a short ill-fated spell with Inter Milan in the first half of this season, losing his job after less than three months.

Premier League move?

Hull and Swansea have made contact with De Boer in recent months. It seems like it’s only a matter of time before he ends up at some Premier League club. There’s currently a vacancy at the King Power Stadium.
