FPL bosses beware: How long Chelsea expect Romelu Lukaku to miss through injury

FPL bosses beware: How long Chelsea expect Romelu Lukaku to miss through injury

An update on the wellbeing of Chelsea star Romelu Lukaku has been forthcoming on Thursday evening, on the back of his enforced exit from the club’s meeting with Malmo.

Jorginho at the double

Thomas Tuchel and co. of course returned to action on Wednesday night.

After a hard-fought 1-0 downing of Brentford at the weekend, the Blues welcomed Swedish champions Malmo to Stamford Bridge, aiming to return to winning ways on the continent, too.

And, when all was said and done in west London, keep the 3-point gap to Champions League group leaders Juventus intact is precisely what Chelsea managed.

A comfortable evening’s work ultimately saw the hosts run out 4-0 winners, courtesy of strikes from Andreas Christensen and Kai Havertz, along with a Jorginho spot-kick brace.

Lukaku latest

An otherwise positive night’s work for Chelsea on Wednesday, however, was soured considerably by a pair of blows on the personnel front.

First up came Romelu Lukaku, who was forced to limp out of the action early on after suffering an ankle injury.

Then, shortly before the interval, the woes of Tuchel’s men were compounded, when fellow hitman Timo Werner followed Lukaku in departing the action prematurely, owing to a hamstring problem.

In turn, both look set for a spell on the sidelines.

Just how long, though, will they be out?

Well, as outlined above, on Thursday evening, an insight into this very subject has been forthcoming, at least when it comes to Lukaku.

As per a report from the reliable Matt Law of The Daily Telegraph, following scans carried out earlier today, Chelsea fear that they will likely be forced to make do without the club’s big-money summer arrival for ‘a minimum’ of two to three weeks:
