Former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino expected to take over at PSG following Tuchel sacking

Former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino expected to take over at PSG following Tuchel sacking

The headline news this Thursday has, of course, centered around ongoings at PSG.

Tuchel sacked

2019/20 was arguably the French outfit’s best season in recent memory.

PSG would, unsurprisingly, clinch yet another Ligue 1 title.

But what made this past season special was that the Parisians managed to make it all the way to the Champions League final.

Granted, they would go on to lose out on Europe’s most coveted prize to Bayern Munich.

But it was certainly a step in the right direction and hopes were no doubt high ahead of 2020/21.

However, to say the current campaign has not gone to plan for PSG would be putting it lightly.

PSG barely made it out of their CL group, eventually making it through thanks to a rather spectacular collapse on the part of Manchester United.

And in the league, PSG are currently sitting in 3rd place, having fallen to defeat four times already this season.

So, it shouldn’t have come as too much of a shock when news was forthcoming on Thursday that Thomas Tuchel had been relieved of his duties at the Parc des Princes.

Pochettino to PSG

And on the same day, news of who will take the German’s place in Paris has already come to light.

As per the reliable Fabrizio Romano, writing in The Guardian, Mauricio Pochettino is set to replace Thomas Tuchel as PSG’s head coach in the coming hours.

The Argentine has been out of work since being sacked by Tottenham in the first half of the 2019/20 campaign after some poor results that saw Spurs lingering in the bottom half of the table.

Pochettino has previously been linked with some top jobs, including at Manchester City, Juventus and Real Madrid.
