One former Arsenal star has claimed that Arsene Wenger is tired of the pressure at the Emirates amid questions over his future.
The Frenchman was public enemy number one again after two 3-0 losses to Manchester City in the space of five days.
The Gunners look to be deflated and Arsene himself looks to be defeated as fans call for him to resign or be sacked.
Now, former star Emmanuel Petit has claimed that he thinks Arsene is simply tired of the pressure at the Emirates.
“It’s been 20 years now. The pressure he’s been living under for the past few years is amazing. I’m looking at it from the outside and I’m thinking, ‘How can he live with that sort of pressure every single week?’ he explained.
“I have the feeling that he is tired of it. That’s my opinion. He’s tired. He’s probably angry about not being given the consideration for what he’s done for Arsenal and the Premier League.
“But Arsene knows better than anyone that, in football, what you have done, what you have won is the past and when you won trophies like he did in the first few years that he set the level of expectation very high.
“If you change Arsene, put someone else in his position, I’m not sure if it will be the solution. The solution is in the transfer market.”
“If Arsenal want to compete then they have to spend money, be intelligent and also be careful on the profile of the player – not just their quality but also their desire, their commitment, their personality.
Dear Arsenal and mister Wenger!
Please sit down and agree how you end your partnership.
Please go public now and say Wenger will leave after the season.
Then the Arsenal-fans can use the remaining games to praise a man that has done SO much for the club.
