Former Gunner backs Kieran Tierney to be future Arsenal captain & best left-back in Premier League
Tierney’s Arsenal stint
Arsenal signed Kieran Tierney in the summer of 2019, for a reported £25m fee.
And the Scotsman has since gone on to prove exactly what a fine piece of business that was.
Whether operating as a left-sided centre-back in a back-five, or as a natural left-back in a back-four, Tierney has been solid for Arsenal throughout, especially this season.
Amid a lack of creativity up top, the former Celtic man has stood as one of the few attacking sparks for the Gunners to this point in the campaign. A dazzling recent display vs West Brom, meanwhile, represented a particular highlight.

Tierney to be future Arsenal captain?
Tierney’s importance to the north Londoners was also apparent earlier this week.
The defender missed out on a meeting with Crystal Palace through injury, with his absence very much felt.
Arsenal looked poor down the left throughout the clash, with the right-footed Ainsley Maitland-Niles having struggled to replicate the attacking exploits of his Scottish teammate.
In turn, now, Tierney has received some high praise from a former Gunners full-back.
Mikael Silvestre spent two years at Arsenal between 2008 and 2010.
And when speaking about Tierney during a recent interview, the Frenchman voiced his opinion that the 23-year-old has all the makings of a future Arsenal captain:
“I’d say Kieran Tierney has been their standout player this season. He’s done so well, especially after his injury last season.
“He’s proving his worth and he’ll inspire a lot of his team-mates because he never gives up.
“He’s a future captain for sure and while he needs a lot more games under his belt, he definitely has the quality to be the best left-back in the league. He definitely has the mentality to wear the armband for Arsenal one day.”
