Tragedy in Colombia

Flying to Colombia to play in the biggest game in the club’s history, Brazilian Serie A club Chapecoense has been struck by tragedy today after their plane crashed close to Medellin.

76 of the 81 passengers were killed and the vast majority of the first team perished ahead of their Copa Sudamericana final. The world of football has been rocked to the core.

Liverpool pay tribute

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool face Leeds in the EFL Cup tonight and the two clubs paid their respects by holding a minute’s silence ahead of kick off.

Fans were spotted in the Anfield crowd with a touching banner (above), wishing Chapecoense their condolences.

With Lucas Leiva captaining the Liverpool team, the fans rendition of “You’ll Never Walk Alone” certainly had extra meaning following a catastrophic day for Brazilian football.
