Fernandinho’s furious reaction after Tottenham
Mirror journalist Simon Mullock tried to prise a quote from Man City midfielder Fernandinho after the Tottenham match.
Fernandinho was brought on as a second half sub after Sergio Aguero had fired the Sky Blues 4-2 up.
However Tottenham managed to to progress through to the semifinals in dramatic fashion.
Fernando Llorente scored Tottenham’s crucial third goal at the Etihad Stadium. But should the goal have been chalked off for handball?
While VAR didn’t help Man City on that occasion, the technology then left Man City empty handed in the final seconds.
Raheem Sterling thought he scored his hat-trick goal to seal City’s passage in the 93rd minute. But VAR wiped the goal off as Sergio Aguero was offside in the build-up.
So how did Fernandinho react to all the chaos? It’s fair to say he’s not a VAR fan.
Asked Fernandinho for a word in the mixed zone. He gave me two: “Fuck VAR.”

When Son Heung-min realised he’s suspended against Ajax
Next up for Tottenham is a Champions League semifinal against Ajax.
Sadly for Spurs, they’ll need to face the Dutch side without Son Heung-min in the first leg.
That’s after the South Korean star picked up a booking away at Man City.
Son was cautioned at the start of the second half, which triggered a one match suspension in the final four.
Interestingly, Son’s yellow card didn’t appear to register with the attacker during the City match.
Only during a post-game interview on German TV was Son made aware that he has to miss the Ajax semifinal first leg.
Heung-Min Son informed on German TV that he’s out suspended for the semi-final first leg.
