Fenerbahce release statement regarding Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil

Ozil’s Arsenal struggles

Throughout his Arsenal career, Mesut Ozil’s displays have been very much up and down.

The German does possess the abilities to be a top quality player, as he has shown for Real Madrid and in spells with the Gunners.

However, Ozil often looks to be putting in minimal effort when playing.

Ozil also appears to have lost the trust of Unai Emery.

For example, the midfielder missed games against all of the other top six sides in the Premier League this past season.

If Ozil is supposed to be a standout star for Arsenal, and his £350,000-per-week wage would suggest that he should be, why does Emery feel that he can’t trust him in bigger games?

Fenerbahce links

With Ozil’s wage so high and Arsenal reportedly having as little as £40m to spend this summer, rumours have circulated that the north London club want to cash in on the German.

One club said to be interested in Ozil are Turkish outfit, Fenerbahce.

However, Fenerbahce have on Wednesday released a statement regarding their links to Ozil:

“In recent weeks, and especially in the last few days, the necessity of providing information about the claims of Mesut Özil, which is on the agenda, to clarify the situation has arisen.

“Mesut Özil, with his career and stance successfully represents our country abroad, is an important value known with the identity of Fenerbahce.

“However, Fenerbahce does not have an initiative for Mesut Ozil. Under the current economic conditions, such a step is not possible for both parties.

“Our President, Ali Koç, made statements on the subject in the WinWin program held on June 20 and emphasized that this could not be realized in the short term.

“We present it to our community and the public.” As quoted by the Evening Standard.
