Fears for Mesut Ozil before Chelsea vs Arsenal
Carabao Cup: Chelsea vs Arsenal
All eyes will be on Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.
On Tuesday in the first semifinal first-leg of the Carabao Cup, Man City edged Bristol City 2-1
Chelsea host Arsenal in the first-leg of their semifinal tonight, and there’s little doubt that Arsenal are under huge extra pressure to perform.
That’s after Nottingham Forest knocked the Gunners out of the FA Cup last weekend.
Arsene Wenger made wholesale changes to his starting XI for the Forest game, suggesting that the Gunners boss prioritised this Chelsea game above all else.
So what will happen if Chelsea thrash Arsenal?
Fears for Mesut Ozil
On Wednesday morning there are fresh fears that Mesut Ozil will miss the Chelsea match.
Ozil has floated in an out of the Arsenal team during the festive period amid reports of an ongoing knee injury.
And, in a worrying sign on Tuesday, Ozil missed training with his Gunners team mates. As reported in the Mirror on Wednesday:
The one big absentee is likely to be Mesut Ozil – who struggled with a knee problem last week – as he did not train and looks set to miss out.
The Mirror also predict how Arsenal will line up against Chelsea. The predicted XI is:
Ospina; Chambers, Mustafi, Holding; Bellerin, Xhaka, Wilshere, Maitland-Niles; Iwobi, Sanchez; Lacazette.
However, it’s also worth noting that the Times predict Ozil will start for Arsenal against the Blues.

Five players are ruled out of the Chelsea game.
Olivier Giroud has a thigh problem, defenders Nacho Monreal and Sead Kolasinac have ankle injuries and Santi Cazorla remains a long term absentee.
Welsh international Aaron Ramsey will also miss the cup tie with an ongoing thigh issue.
Wenger also confirmed that Shkodran Mustafi has a knock and will need a late fitness test before Chelsea.
Staying at the back, Laurent Koscielny could also miss out as he continues to be dogged by a chronic Achilles injury.
Lastly Granit Xhaka is a fitness doubt with a groin problem.
