Fears for Marcus Rashford before Newcastle

Newcastle vs Manchester United

It’s still a few days away, but on Sunday Newcastle United will host Manchester United in the Premier League.

The Red Devils come into the game second in the table. Last time out they beat Huddersfield 2-0 as Alexis Sanchez got off the mark.

As for Newcastle, they picked up a point at Crystal Palace.

The Magpies remain deep in the relegation mire. Sixteenth in the table, Newcastle are just one point above the bottom three.

Will Marcus Rashford be available vs Newcastle?

There are already fears the Marcus Rashford will miss the Newcastle game.

Rashford, who has appeared in every Premier League for United this season, was a second half sub last weekend against Huddersfield.

But that cameo appearance could prove to be pricey as the England international picked up a knock. ESPN have reported:

Marcus Rashford will be assessed this week after the Manchester United forward suffered a muscle injury during the win over Huddersfield on Saturday.

(He) felt a strain at the top of his left leg during his 20-minute appearance.

Even if Rashford does miss the trip to Newcastle, Jose Mourinho seems well-stocked with cover.

Sanchez’s arrival is an obvious boost, while Mourinho also has Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial to pick from to fill the forward positions.

One player who is definitely out of action, however, is Marouane Fellaini. The Belgian picked up an injury in the defeat at Tottenham.

He’s since had an operation which will keep him sidelined for two months.

Man United are also missing Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Eric Bailly at the moment.
