Wolves vs Chelsea

One of Sunday’s two early Premier League kick-offs is currently playing out in the midlands.

Said tie sees Bruno Lage’s Wolves taking on Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea.

Chelsea have had some Covid-19-related issues this week, which sees a number of their key players missing out.

However, the Londoners were still able to field a fairly strong eleven on Sunday, and put four senior outfield players on the bench – a lot better than Leeds managed on Saturday vs Arsenal.

But the goal was rightly ruled out after Raul Jimenez was adjudged to have been offside in the build-up.

Bruno Lage’s side, nevertheless, continued to dominate Tuchel and co. early on in the game.

The score would remain at 0-0 throughout the opening half-hour, but should Chelsea have had a man sent off?

After an attempted pass was played towards Daniel Podence, N’Golo Kante got back to block the ball. However, upon replays being broadcast, it appeared as though the Frenchman used his arm to intervene.

In turn, as Kante was the last man between Podence and Chelsea’s goal, a case could certainly be made that the midfielder should have seen red for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity.

This is certainly the opinion of many fans on social media, amid the widespread consensus that Kante ‘got away with one’:
