Fans slam Bobby Madley after failure to award early penalty during Arsenal vs West Brom

Supporters have this evening taken to social media in their droves to hit out at referee Bobby Madley for not awarding a penalty to West Brom versus Arsenal.

The two sides went head-to-head in a Premier League clash at the Emirates Stadium tonight, with home side Arsenal having finally started to find their feet over recent weeks following a dismal start to the campaign.

Blatant foul

The Gunners got off to a bright start, with Alexis Sanchez looking lively and dangerous from the off.

However, it didn’t take long for Arsene Wenger’s men to allow the Baggies a clear-cut opportunity at the other end, after a perfectly-weighted defence-splitting pass from Gareth Barry sent Jay Rodriguez into a race with Shkodran Mustafi.

Rodriguez got to the ball first, before immediately attempting to cut back away from goal.

However, as he did so, German stopper Mustafi appeared to take the legs from underneath the former Southampton star, with immediate calls for a penalty.

Rodriguez, to his credit, jumped straight back up to unleash an angled drive at goal, which was expertly touched onto the post by Petr Cech.

But viewers watching on were nonetheless in shock at referee Bobby Madley’s failure to award a spot-kick.

The Twitter reaction was typically brutal, with some of the highlights below:
