Viewers of this evening’s clash between Manchester United and West Bromwich Albion have taken to Twitter in numbers to slate Paul Pogba, following his sub-par hour-long showing.
The two sides went head to head at Old Trafford, with United having come into proceedings fresh off the back of their morale-boosting 3-2 comeback victory over Manchester City in the derby last weekend.
West Brom, meanwhile, had failed to pick up all 3 points in a Premier League outing since the middle of January, with the Baggies’ last match having seen them throw away a second-half lead to draw 1-1 with Swansea City.

The early exchanges of this afternoon’s clash saw hosts United control the vast majority of possession, but West Brom look surprisingly dangerous on the break through the likes of Salomon Rondon and Jay Rodriguez.
The best chances of the opening 45 minutes fell to Jake Livermore and Romelu Lukaku, with David De Gea and Ben Foster both subsequently producing impressive stops to keep the scores level heading into the interval.
Coming up short
The second 45 started out in a similar vein, with United once again struggling to break down the stout backline of their opponents.
As such, the struggles of his side soon forced the arm of Red Devils’ boss Jose Mourinho, who, after introducing Jesse Lingard for Ander Herrera at half-time, opted to haul off Paul Pogba, the difference-maker in last Saturday’s derby, replacing the midfielder with fellow Frenchman Anthony Martial in the 57th-minute.
Pogba, who many had hoped would kick on following his brilliance versus Manchester City, looked largely disinterested during his hour on the pitch this evening, providing little in terms of cutting edge, losing possession too easily and even picking up a booking for a bizarre Maradona-esque hand-ball attempt at goal during the first-half.
Unsurprisingly, the reaction online to Pogba’s showing and subsequent substitution has since been typically ruthless, as showcased below:
Wait so pogba had 1 good HALF ( not even full game just half) and people all of a sudden thought he was a god. Now he’s getting subbed off at West Brom in the 57th minute after doing fuck all 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

– Last week: “Pogba has really turned a corner”

Pogba put out of his misery. Atrocious performance. Played well for 30 minutes last week but doesn’t look comfortable at all in the side/position. Ongoing problem for Mou and #MUFC.

Inspiring a derby day comeback away from home and then stinking up the gaff against dead bottom West Brom is the perfect way to describe Pogba’s United career so far

Pogba is bollocks.

Pogba is lucky to have lasted this long. He’s been fucking dire.

Incredibly, in the end, the lack of cutting edge on the part of the Red Devils proved extremely costly this evening, as Jay Rodriguez’s headed finish in the 73rd-minute sent Darren Moore’s bottom of the table Baggies home with all 3 points, resulting in Manchester City being crowned the champions of the Premier League.
