Fans react to Spurs star Serge Aurier’s stupid red card versus West Ham

Viewers of this afternoon’s matchup between West Ham United and Tottenham have taken to social media to berate Spurs defender Serge Aurier following his needless sending off.

The London rivals went head-to-head in a derby at the Olympic Stadium, with a cagey opening half-hour eventually blown wide open by a brace from Harry Kane.

A second-half strike from midfielder Christian Eriksen looked to have put the game to bed, but Javier Hernandez pulled one back five minutes later in typical fashion to provide a glimmer of light for the Hammers.

Rush of blood

Spurs still looked the far superior side, though a single moment of madness from defender Serge Aurier has since seen a number of the club’s fans react angrily to the Ivorian putting their side in unnecessary danger in a match they were in complete control of.

The powerful full-back, who was making his first Premier League start for the North Londoners, was guilty of a number of petty fouls in the first-haf, but was repeatedly let off the hook by referee Michael Oliver.

However, he was eventually booked twenty minutes into the second-half, after a needless push on Andy Carroll following a goal-kick from Joe Hart.

And he was back at it again just 5 minutes later, with the former PSG star scything down Carroll once again as the home side attempted to break inside their own half.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino immediately looked bemused at the dreadful decision making of his summer signing, while Aurier himself seemed to acknowledge that he was in the wrong.

This was of little consolation to fans of Tottenham, though, who, along with other viewers, took to social media in their droves to slate the marauding African.
