Fans joke about contrasting fortunes of Coutinho and Paulinho after Liverpool and Barcelona results

Social media users have taken to Twitter to poke fun at Philippe Coutinho following an evening which saw Paulinho score again for Barcelona and Liverpool fall at Leicester.

The two Brazilian internationals were targets of Barcelona this summer, with Paulinho making a 40 million Euro switch to the Camp Nou from Guangzhou Evergrande.

Coutinho, however, did not earn his dream move to Catalonia, with Liverpool having stood firm on holding onto their prized possession despite a number of big-money Blaugrana bids.

And this evening has seen the contrasting summer fortunes of the duo highlighted on the pitch.

Barca continued their impressive start to the season by dispatching of minnows Eibar 6-1 at the Camp Nou.

Lionel Messi notched 4 goals, while Paulinho scored for the second game running, with the South American midfielder looking right at home among the multitude of stars at the club.

Coutinho, meanwhile, played the first-half of his side’s Carabao Cup clash with Leicester City.

The former Inter Milan standout was substituted with the scores level at the interval, but watched on as Jurgen Klopp’s men crumbled during the second 45 minutes to lose 2-0.
