The draw for the 5th-round of the FA Cup took place a short time ago, with heavyweights and minnows of English football alike having discovered their respective upcoming opponents.
PL giants march on
The FA Cup’s last-32 ties were played out over the course of this past weekend.
The likes of Manchester United and Manchester City cruised through, with Chelsea having also booked their spot in the 5th-round, albeit courtesy of a hard-fought win over Hull.
Elsewhere, all of Leicester, Sheffield United and Norwich continued their cup adventures, though West Ham were bested by Championship high-flyers West Brom.
A number of Premier League outfits, however, face replays, after stuttering to draws over the weekend.
All of Liverpool, Newcastle, Southampton and Tottenham will have to take to the pitch again in the hopes of booking their places in the FA Cup’s last-16.
FA Cup draw
Nevertheless, though, as outlined above, the draw for the competition’s next round has this evening taken place.
The undoubted highlight is a mouthwatering potential tie between Chelsea and Liverpool at Stamford Bridge, though the latter will have to best League One outfit Shrewsbury next week first, if such a matchup is to come to fruition.
Elsewhere, hosts Man City face a trip to Sheffield Wednesday, Manchester rivals United will visit either club legend Wayne Rooney’s Derby County or Northampton, and the winner of Arsenal’s clash with Bournemouth this evening will take on Portsmouth at Fratton Park.
