An impressive statistic regarding the assist numbers of Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku has come to the fore online this afternoon, after the Belgian hitman set up Anthony Martial for the only goal of the Red Devils’ Premier League clash with Burnley.
The two sides went head to head at Turf Moor this afternoon, with hosts Burnley coming into proceedings on the back of a hugely disappointing run of no wins from their last 7 outings, culminating in a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace last week.
United, meanwhile, had put a festive blip firmly behind them over the last couple of weeks, with 3 consecutive wins across all competitions, scoring 7 and conceding none in the process.

A tight opening 45 minutes this afternoon saw both sides struggle to create clear-cut chances, as Jose Mourinho’s visitors failed to register a single shot on target.
This trend continued for the Red Devils to begin the second-half, before a moment of centre-forward brilliance from Romelu Lukaku lit up proceedings.
After taking the ball into his feet on the halfway line, Lukaku spun his marker, bursting into space down Burnley’s left.
From here, the burly Belgian spotted Anthony Martial in acres of space on the far side, with the former Everton man cutting back onto his left and spraying a perfect pass to his fellow attacker.
Martial made no mistake with his finish from here, placing a gorgeous driven strike in off the underside of Nick Pope’s crossbar.
Following the game’s solitary goal, a hugely impressive, and rather surprising statistic regarding the assist numbers of Lukaku came to the fore, highlighting the fact that the 24-year-old’s contribution outside of scoring goals is perhaps undervalued:
