Patrice Evra has spoken about his move to West Ham United, and claimed it was one of the fastest deals of his career.
He made it clear he joined the club to play football and wear their shirt, and not because of money – and that he wants to make sure he gets on with things and manages to help the team in the Premier League.
He spoke with the club’s website and said: “It happened really fast. My agent called me and told me I needed to come back [from Dubai] to London as quick as I could and I had a nice meeting with the manager, who I know from Manchester United, of course, and I met the Chairman, so it was really easy.
“When you have to make a deal and money is not the issue, the deal could be done in five minutes.
“The main thing was for me to join West Ham and to help my teammates to win as many games as we can.”
Moyes and Evra of course know each other from his time with Manchester United, and while there are certainly some stories about how the pair didn’t see eye to eye, it seems that’s only water under the bridge now and both parties have been able to put that aside for the sake of their common goal.
The pair reportedly fell out over a bacon sandwich and a buffet bar, but after Evra’s kick at a Marseilles fan and the dire straights the Hammers have been in at times this season, it seems the duo think a reunion is best for all involved – as long as the buffet is left untouched.
Didn’t think Patrice Evra would ever reunite with David Moyes after he bizarrely defied him at Manchester Airport. Moyes told the players not to raid the private lounge buffet, Evra asked why not, ignored Moyes’ explanation and ate a bacon roll in front of him. #mufc
