Why everyone was trolling Liverpool during Valencia v Barcelona

‘Reunited and it feels so good’

Barcelona took the lead against Valencia in the second half of their game on Thursday evening but it was Liverpool that everyone was talking about.

The Camp Nou side were looking to seal their place in the next round of the Copa del Rey with the side already having a 1-0 lead on aggrigate.

Though, they did make it 2-0 and 1-0 on the night just after the break but it was the scorer and the man that set him up which had people talking.

That is because former Liverpool man Luis Suarez set up another former Reds star Philippe Coutinho to score the opening goal.

Coutinho’s well-documented move to Barcelona was finally completed in the January transfer window for a fee around £142million.

The Brazilian nearly moved last summer but Liverpool blocked all advances despite the player pushing for a move.

That upset most Liverpool fans but they knew that the player would likely go on to bigger and better things.

Bromance blooming

Now, that situation has been realised and in the most painful of ways for Reds fans after Luis Suarez was even the man to set him up.

What could have been if both remained at the club but they are now two of the biggest catalysts in Barcelona’s silverware hunt this season.

Should they win tonight, they would progress through to the final of the Copa del Rey with other competitions lined up nicely.

Ernesto Valverde’s side already have a nine-point gap at the top of La Liga and look set to win that trophy without any effort.

Not only that, they still remain in the Champions League and face off against Chelsea in a two-legged clash to go through to the next round.

Safe to say, with Luis Suarez, Philippe Coutinho and Lionel Messi at the helm, even the treble could be possible this year.
