Manchester City knew going into their second leg against Basel that anything other than an unprecedented collapse would see them go through to the next round – and after they managed to go a goal up, courtesy of Gabriel Jesus, it seemed as though they were on another cruise control mission.
However, it wasn’t to be, and Basel hit back twice – not that it mattered to the overall result, with City set to be in the draw next Friday – but some people were utterly fuming – and those people were the ones who had a bet on.
It might have been a sole bet on the result or both legs, or as part of an accumulator – but either way, City managed to ruin it, and people were fuming on Twitter.
They also mentioned the Liverpool game the night before, that ended 0-0, another result no one saw coming, and betting slips went in the bin or out the window – torn up, and you can’t blame people for being annoyed given the amount of games City have lost this season – let alone at home!
