Everton’s trip to Aston Villa reportedly ‘likely’ to be postponed
The latest word stemming from the English media on Tuesday suggests that Aston Villa’s meeting with Everton this weekend remains in major doubt.
Concern in Aston
One of the major talking points in English football last week of course surrounded the situation at Villa Park.
Just 24 hours prior to the club’s scheduled FA Cup meeting with Liverpool, word was forthcoming that Aston Villa had been forced to close the gates of the club’s training ground.
This came on the back of a ‘significant’ number of coronavirus cases being confirmed in Dean Smith’s squad:
‘Aston Villa can confirm that the Club has closed its Bodymoor Heath training ground after a significant Coronavirus outbreak.’
‘A large number of first team players and staff returned positive tests after being routinely tested on Monday and immediately went into isolation.’
‘A second round of testing was carried out immediately and produced more positive results today.’

Subsequent reports revealed that as many as 14 individuals at Villa Park had tested positive, including 9 first-team players.
In turn, the Claret and Blue were forced to field an XI comprised of youth team players versus Liverpool, with Jurgen Klopp’s men, in the end, having inevitably emerged on the right side of a 4-1 result.
Villa did see their scheduled league meeting with Tottenham tomorrow night postponed, with the FA and Premier League currently applying different rules and regulations when it comes to their respective Covid-19 decision-making processes.
Latest postponement?
As outlined above, though, if the latest update to have come to the fore regarding Dean Smith’s panel of isolating players is to be believed, then Villa could be on their way towards a major fixture pile-up over the weeks and months ahead.
This comes amid claims that, after initially being pushed back by 24 hours, the Villans’ Premier League meeting with Everton this weekend is now in serious threat of being postponed.
The club’s first-team squad missed training once again on Tuesday, with their Bodymoor Heath ground remaining shut.
And, as per a report from the Mirror, if a significant improvement is not forthcoming over the days ahead, it appears altogether ‘likely’ that Sunday’s scheduled meeting between the Lions and Everton will not be permitted to go ahead:
