Everton’s James Rodriguez sets injury return date

Everton’s James Rodriguez sets injury return date

When will James Rodriguez return from injury?

James Rodriguez has set a date for when he hopes to return to action.

The Colombian has been a key figure for Everton since his move from Real Madrid last year.

In 18 Premier League outings this term, Rodriguez has managed to notch a very respectable five goals and four assists, with his creative prowess having provided a huge boost for Carlo Ancelotti and co.

However, Rodriguez is currently out of action, and has missed the Merseysiders’ last four league outings, two of which saw them fall to defeat. The 29-year-old was also forced to watch on from home as his side exited the FA Cup at the hands of Manchester City over the weekend.

Now, though, Rodriguez has expressed his hope that he will return to the fold on April 3rd:

“I’ll play again in the next game, April 3rd, I think.

“I’m very well, thank God, and I want to play again.”

Quotes via Goal.

Everton’s next game is actually against Crystal Palace on Monday the 5th of April, but it appears that this is the outing which Rodriguez was alluding to.

Can Everton secure European football?

The Toffees will head into their meeting with Palace sitting 8th in the Premier League table, having dropped six points from their last two games.

Everton remain, on paper, though, in with a great chance of securing some form of European football for next season.

At present, Ancelotti’s men sit just two points off 6th, and five points off 4th. However, they have a game in hand on all of the sides above them, as well as Arsenal, who currently occupy 9th spot.

So, whilst a Champions League finish doesn’t look that likely – especially when taking into account Chelsea’s fine form – Everton should be able to go on to earn Europa League football, an aim which will be aided to no end by Rodriguez’s return.
