Everton, West Ham & signing striker Edin Dzeko

Roma’s Edin Dzeko up for sale

Now 33, Edin Dzeko may be about to make his final major career move.

Dzeko has endured a difficult season at Roma as the Bosnian has struggled to hit the high notes.

He’s only scored seven goals in 23 league matches, while also contributing three assists in Serie A.

In the Champions League Dzeko scored five goals in six games for Roma. However the Italians were knocked out by Porto in the round of 16.

Dzeko is under contract in the Italian capital until 2020, however Gazzetta dello Sport report on Tuesday that Roma have no intention of extending the forward’s deal.

Accordingly, if Roma aim to recoup a transfer fee for the attacker, then selling Dzeko this summer makes sense.

Gazzetta list two Premier League suitors: Everton and West Ham.

Edin Dzeko’s lowlights

In the recent Champions League defeat to Porto, Dzeko simulated an injury during a clash with Pepe.

Corriere dello Sport also report on Tuesday that Roma are upset with Dzeko for posting a video at a party following last weekend’s 2-1 defeat at SPAL.

Everton vs West Ham

Along with Everton and West Ham, Inter Milan are also named as a possible next move for Dzeko. However that seems unlikely.

So which Premier League club would make more sense?

Everton are in desperate need for a new number 9. Indeed, the #9 shirt is available at Goodison Park.

On the Gary Neville podcast last weekend, the Sky Sports pundit advocated for Everton to move for Olivier Giroud in the summer.

While the Giroud links are likely to pop up again before the start of next season, signing Dzeko seems to equal sense for the Toffees.

Both Giroud and Dzeko are target men who can bring others into play while also scoring themselves.

But could Everton miss out on Dzeko? West Ham could also be in the market for a new striker this summer.

After failing to move to China in January, Marko Arnautovic’s future with the Hammers is up in the air.

Javier Hernandez may also be seeking an exit from the Irons. Back in January, Chicharito was linked with a possible switch to Valencia.
