Everton vs Newcastle betting tips: Premier League preview & prediction

Everton vs Newcastle 101 Great Goals prediction: Everton 2-0 Newcastle

Both Everton and Newcastle suffered defeats at the weekend but their recent form indicates that this could be a close midweek affair.

The Toffees had only failed to win in two of their last seven games going into the Merseyside derby and very nearly came away with a very impressive point.

However, Liverpool’s late freak goal meant that they would come away with nothing.

Newcastle, on the other hand, were brought back down to earth by a struggling West Ham side.

They had previously won three games on the bounce while West Ham had only won one in their last five.

Though, it was Manuel Pellegrini’s side who came out 3-0 victors.

Everton vs Newcastle: Who will win?

Going into this game, it will be no surprise that Everton are the favourites.

Marco Silva and his side have well and truly made Goodison their fortress over the past couple of months.

Everton have won every game at home since the 3-1 defeat to West Ham in the middle of September.

With that in mind, the Toffees go into this game at odds of 3/5 to win outright.

Despite their impressive form before the defeat, Newcastle are very heavy outsiders.

They can be found at odds of 6/1 to win the game outright.

Should you fancy a draw, you can find that priced at 29/10.

A 2-0 scoreline, as we predict will be the result, is priced at 13/2.

With Everton at such low odds and a Newcastle bet pretty risky, it is worth us looking at the goalscorer market.

Goalscorer odds

He may have had a miserable day at Anfield on Sunday but Richarlison has been Everton’s most deadly player in front of goal this campaign.

Richarlison has scored six goals in the Premier League this season and following a frustrating last game, he will be looking to get back on the scoresheet.

Richarlison

With that in mind, he is priced at 4/1 to score first.

Two Everton players who stand out in the goalscoring betting are Gylfi Sigurdsson and Ademola Lookman.

Firstly, Sigurdsson has been one of the Blues most important players this season.

He has also found his shooting boots compared to last season, scoring just as many goals as Richarlison with six in the Premier League.

A bet on him to score first at 7/1 is very attractive.

Ademola Lookman could also be in with a chance of starting this game after yet another impressive cameo against Liverpool.

He is priced at very good odds of 15/2 to score first and should he start, will no doubt be one of the favourites.

You have to go all the way down to ninth in the goalscorer betting odds to find a Newcastle player.

Salomon Rondon is priced at 10/1 to net first.

Everton vs Newcastle match preview

There are certainly mixed feelings for Everton following their Merseyside derby loss.

The Toffees went toe to toe with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and thoroughly impressed.

Andre Gomes ran riot in midfield while Marco Silva’s side had just as big chances as their counterparts to go ahead.

Though, it was a freak goal from Liverpool which secured them all three points and Everton left with nothing when they deserved at least a point.

However, that hasn’t dampened the spirits of many Toffees fans.

That is because following that performance, there was a confirmation.

A confirmation that Everton really are going somewhere with Marco Silva and director of football Marcel Brands.

Everton going places

Before the game at Anfield, the Blues had only lost one of their last seven, that loss coming away to Manchester United in another game where they were unfortunate not to come away with a point.

During that time they have beaten the likes of Fulham, Leicester, Crystal Palace, Brighton and Cardiff with almost all of them coming at home.

Their defence has sharpened up with Yerry Mina and Michael Keane performing like a brick wall in recent weeks.

Their attack is equally impressive, despite Richarlison struggling at times.

The Brazilian has six Premier League goals so far but has been deployed centrally over the past month or so.

Gylfi Sigurdsson has been equally impressive and is the heartbeat of Everton’s attack.

Summer loan signing Andre Gomes is arguably one of their best players too.

He’s provided much-needed balance in the centre of the park for Marco Silva’s side and continues to improve game by game.

With all that in mind, Everton will be looking to make Newcastle their latest Goodison victim.

Can the Magpies secure a very impressive win?

It was all going so well for Newcastle before the weekend.

The Magpies had won three games on the run to well and truly put their struggles behind them.

First was a victory over impressive Watford, Ayoze Perez scoring the only goal of the game to get Rafa Benitez’s side winning again.

That was followed up by a win over high-flying Bournemouth to emphasise that Newcastle had turned a corner.

Salomon Rondon scored both goals in a 2-1 win.

Finally, Newcastle faced off against Sean Dyche’s Burnley and again came out with a 2-1 win.

A Ben Mee own goal and one from Ciaran Clark made it a trio of wins for Rafa Benitez, something Newcastle fans didn’t think they’d see this season after their poor start.

Matt Ritchie

Newcastle fall to defeat against the Hammers

Many saw them as the favourites against West Ham who had been struggling themselves for a number of weeks.

Though, they were well and truly brought back down to earth.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side ran riot and came out 3-0 winners.

Javier Hernandez scored a brace while Felipe Anderson compounded Newcastle’s woes in the 93rd minute.

Newcastle’s fortunes may not even turn around this week either with Everton next up.

The Toffees will be like a wounded animal coming out the Merseyside derby and will be doing all they can to make it up to their fans.

Couple that with the fact Everton have won every game at home since the loss to West Ham and it would take some performance from Newcastle to come out of this game with anything.

Everton team news vs Newcastle

Everton fielded pretty much their best side in the game against Liverpool and no players were injured during the clash.

That leaves Marco Silva with a full selection of players to choose from.

Though, there may be some changes.

Ademola Lookman impressed in yet another cameo appearance and he could finally be given his chance from the start this week.

He could replace either Theo Walcott on the right or Bernard on the left.

Kurt Zouma could also return to the team after a few starts by Yerry Mina.

Newcastle team news vs Everton

The biggest news for Newcastle comes in the form of Matt Ritchie.

The forward will miss the game due to suspension after picking up five yellow cards this season.

Paul Dummett could return to the squad but is said to be under assessment.

Florian Lejeune is also back in training, though there is no date on his return.
