Everton’s seven targets
In the Star on Monday, Everton fans are given plenty of reasons to be excited for the summer.
Seven reasons to be exact.
According to the tabloid, Everton are ready to invest more money on seven signings this off-season.
The Star outline Everton’s recruitment strategy reporting that director of football, Marcel Brands, hopes to sign a goalkeeper, two strikers, two full-backs, a centre-back and a midfielder.
Everton & Lille’s Rafael Leao
When it comes to strikers on Everton’s shopping list, the Daily Mail reported last week that Lille forward Rafael Leao is a target.
Leao, 19, is a Portuguese international.
This season Rafael Leao has scored seven goals and chipped in with two assists in 19 Ligue 1 games.
The Mail described Leao as follows:
Leao is fast and skilful, can play on the left wing or as a central striker and has drawn comparisons with Kylian Mbappe, though has been quick to play those down as he looks to cut his own niche in the game.
Newcastle’s Salomon Rondon
Could Everton sign Newcastle’s Salomon Rondon this summer too?
Claims that the South American striker may switch from St James’ Park to Goodison Park surfaced over the weekend.
That’s after it was reported that Newcastle are baulking on paying West Brom around 17 million pounds for the attacker.
While Rondon is supposedly keen on joining Newcastle on a full-time basis, the Magpies are concerned about buying a striker who may have little resale value in the future.
Rondon will be 30-years-old in September.
