Everton are looking to sign an ex-Arsenal player if they are unable to persuade Jack Wilshere to join them on a free transfer this summer.
The Englishman and his contract situation has been talked about extensively over the past couple of weeks.
That is because the player has admitted there has been no progress over contract negotiations.
It was then revealed that Everton would be one of many clubs that will attempt to sign the player on a free transfer.
Though, it’s really not as easy as you would think with Arsenal still only needing to agree a deal with him and other clubs interested.
That has lead to the Toffees turning to an ex-Arsenal star as an alternative to Wilshere.
That player comes in the form of Oguzhan Ozyakup who will also be available on a free transfer this summer.
Ozyakup is a former Arsenal youth prospect but left the club and found himself at Besiktas.
Turkish-Football.comt have now revealed that Everton have scouted the player on many occasions this summer.
Not only that, inquiries have been made but no official deal has been agreed.
With that in mind, and Ozyakup being a similar player to Wilshere, you would expect it’s one or the other for the Toffees.
Jack Wilshere is likely to be the priority but with that deal hard to pull off, 24-year-old Ozyakup could provide a suitable alternative.
With both available on a free transfer, Everton completing either of the deals would represent fantastic value.
