Everton’s new signing from Besiktas Cenk Tosun has finally netted his first goal for the club to hand them the lead against Burnley at half-time.
Following his big-money move from Turkey in January, the forward’s time in England has not gone as planned, having spent most of his time on the bench.
The Turk, on just his third start for the Toffees, has finally opened his account in England as he turned in Seamus Coleman’s flick-on with an expert header.
Proving his worth
Tosun was hugely impressive in Turkey and it was no surprise that Everton were so willing to shell out £27m on his signature.
Over the last season-and-a-half, the forward has netted an impressive 38 goals for Besiktas, whilst also proving himself on the continental stage in the Champions League.
The player, however, has struggled in England, falling out of favor with Everton manager Sam Allardyce, but when called upon today, he has more than showed his worth.
Within the first 45 minutes at Turf Moor, Tosun has been at the heart of the Toffees’ impressive display both creating chances and looking sharp in attack.
The club’s supporters have taken to Twitter to share their delight at his performance this afternoon…
What a player tosun looks to be btw, understand the Turks fume now 😂

Thought Tosun played well v WBA in an awful @Everton performance and was a scapegoat by our shithouse manager. Finally given a start and he’s holding the ball up great, bringing others in, spraying passes about and scored a good goal. Like the look of him. #efc

Ever since he opened his #EFC account, Tosun has looked really sharp.
Latest cross may have been aimed for Sigurdsson, but if it was meant for Walcott then it was a lovely ball.
Everton could have had several here.
