Everton submit last-gasp big money offer for Benfica forward

Everton have made a last-gasp move for Benfica striker Raul Jiminez and it now becomes a race against time to get a deal done before the deadline.

The Merseysiders have been looking for striker to sign just before the window closes but have been rebuffed in the past few hours.

A move for Lucas Perez fell through early in the afternoon after the player chose to return to Spain rather than stay in England.

A move for Michy Batshuayi also fell through earlier in the day after it was clear that Diego Costa would not move to Atletico Madrid today.

Also, a move for Fernando Llorente affected a deal as the player was seen as the replacement for the Belgian if he was to move.

Now, it looks as though the side have made a move for Benfica striker Raul Jiminez and the move is said to cost around €35million.

This comes from Portuguese press who claimed that a last minute offer had been submitted but there were no suggestions as to whether it would be accepted.

Though at the time of writing there is only 30 minutes remaining, if Everton can agree a deal and submit a deal sheet to the Premier League, they have up until 1am to get a deal done.

This is a document that tells the Premier League that the deal is done and all that remains is the formalities.

It could be a busy few hours for Everton fans.

Barkley changes his mind

In an incredible chain of events, Ross Barkley has rejected Chelsea during the middle of his medical at the club.

The Toffees had agreed to sell the player to Chelsea and a deal of £30million plus had been agreed.

Now, its unsure whether a move will get completed or whether Barkley will have to wait until January.
