New Everton signing Lucas Digne has admitted that he told Barcelona defender Yerry Mina to join him at Goodison this summer.
The left-back joined the Toffees for a fee in the region of €20million and will be an important player for the club going forward.
Not only will he provide a huge battle with Leighton Baines for the left-back spot, he represents the long-term successor to the Englishman.
He isn’t the only defender that Everton are hoping to bring in though, as they look to revamp their defence under Marco Silva.
Central defence is next on the list and there have been a whole host of players linked for that position.
Yerry Mina is one of them, someone who played with Digne at Barcelona and now he’s been talking about the possibility of the player joining him at Goodison.
Come to Everton!
There’s has been much talk about the future of Yerry Mina this summer after a stunning World Cup.
He impressed with Colombia and has since come back to Barcelona looking for regular playing time.
That has left him likely to leave the club for those minutes with Everton, Lyon and Manchester United interested in him.
Now, Everton’s new boy Lucas Digne has admitted that he told Mina to join him at Goodison but doesn’t know if he will.
“I hope to see him here but I don’t know really! He’ll choose the best for his career and we’ll see,” Digne explained, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.
“I said to him to come but we’ll see. Really I don’t know. He’s a good player and a good guy.”
