Everton had January bid rejected for Wayne Rooney

Fairytale return

It has been revealed that Everton had a bid rejected for Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney in January and could go back in for him.

The Toffees are looking to lure the Englishman back for an audacious return that would certainly send waves through the Premier League.

Majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri looked to make a statement during the summer window but was unable to land the club’s targets.

Now, having reportedly had a bid for Rooney knocked back in January, the club may return for him in the summer.

Even having committed his future to Man United for the season, it remains almost certain that he will leave after this season.

According to the report, Everton remains a serious option for Rooney and it remains a choice between a fairytale return or the riches of the Chinese Super League.

Will Lukaku remain at Everton?

The Belgian forward’s future has been a hot topic on Merseyside in recent seasons, with a return to Chelsea being mooted.

Now, Lukaku could be set to sign a new deal with both him and his agent Mino Raiola liking where the club is going under Moshiri.

Should the club keep the striker and add quality such as Rooney and more, they could make a genuine push for the Champions League.
