He’s going nowhere
Everton and Marco Silva have rejected an approach from Crystal Palace to sign one of their out of favour forwards on loan until the end of the season.
Palace have been in desperate need of some extra firepower during the current campaign.
Many of their strikers have been out of form or have suffered injury problems.
Alexander Sörloth hadn’t scored a Premier League goal for Palace before being shipped out on loan.
Christian Benteke has been out due to a knee injury and did not score in five attempts in the Premier League before that.
Bar Wilfried Zaha, Jordan Ayew has made the most Premier League appearances in that position, playing 15 games.
However, he has only scored one goal.
Finally, Connor Wickham has played five times in the league and hasn’t scored in any of them.
Their striker woes have led to a 4-4-2 formation being deployed with Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend up front.
Now, they’ve attempted to boost their attacking options in the transfer window by approaching Everton for Cenk Tosun.
Though, it hasn’t gone down well.
Palace’s woes continue
That is because according to the Liverpool Echo, Everton have rejected their approach to sign him on loan.
It is said that they are only interested in selling permanently and would command a fee of £20million.
After falling out of favour, it is unlikely that any teams would be willing to shell out that much for Tosun.
Huddersfield are also interested in the player according to the same report but like Palace are only interested in a loan move.
For the time being, it looks as though Tosun is set to remain at Everton.
