Will Gueye leave Everton this month?
Everton have reportedly made ‘good progress’ on signing a La Liga central midfielder who could replace Idrissa Gueye after links with PSG.
The Senegalese midfielder has been linked with a move to Paris for a number of weeks now.
After leaving Aston Villa to join Everton following the Villain’s relegation, Gueye has become of the best tacklers in the Premier League.
He can single-handedly lock down the midfield and never gives the opposition a second to breathe.
Those qualities have lead to suggestions Gueye could leave to join Paris Saint-Germain.
The French club are on the lookout for a new central midfielder with Adrien Rabiot set to leave the club
There have even been suggestions that PSG have already agreed personal terms with Gueye over a potential move.
Now, Everton have reportedly made their move for a player who could turn out to be Gueye’s replacement.
Everton make ‘good progress’ on replacement
According to Le10 Sport, as cited by Sport Witness, Everton are targeting Celta Vigo’s Stanislav Lobotka.
The Slovakian midfielder has impressed in La Liga this season despite Celta being down in 17th.
That has lead to reported interest from Everton.
Le10 Sport’s report continues by claiming ‘Everton have made good progress in recent hours with the midfielder’.
That’s really as far as the report goes, bar suggesting that Lobotka was a target for Thomas Tuchel last summer but a move never came to fruition.
After Marco Silva suggested that there was no money for this transfer window, a deal for Lobotka would surely signal Idrissa Gueye’s departure.
