Swapping the Saints for Merseyside?
Everton have reportedly made contact with Southampton over wantaway midfielder Mario Lemina, with the Toffees looking to replace Idrissa Gueye.
Everton look set to be active in the market after selling Gueye to Paris Saint-Germain earlier this week.
Marco Silva’s side have been linked with several players, such as Malcom, Moise Kean, Wilfried Zaha and Jean-Philippe Gbamin.
Everton’s interest in Jean-Philippe Gbamin also looks to have accelerated this week, with reports suggesting that a deal is close, and a medical could happen soon.
Gbamin looked as though he could be Idrissa Gueye’s replacement, but now there’s another name on the agenda.
Would Lemina be a good signing for Everton?
That name is Mario Lemina, and, according to the Daily Mail’s Dominic King, Everton have already contacted Southampton over a deal.
It’s said that the Toffees are ‘keen’ on Lemina, but a deal is not close.

Things are moving in the right direction with Moise Kean but weekend looks likely for completion of deal.

Lemina has been heavily linked with a move away from Southampton, after he admitted that he wanted to leave St Mary’s.
Earlier in July, Lemina admitted that there’s no going back on his decision to leave.
“I’m not afraid, I made a choice and I take it to the end. I stand by my plan, I decided to tell the leaders that I wanted to leave, there is no turning back,” he explained.
He also claimed that he would like to remain in England.
Everton could certainly give him that, but it remains to be seen how much Southampton would want for him, and how much the Toffees are willing to pay.
