Merseyside battle for Kimpembe
Everton and Liverpool are about to drag their bitter rivalry off the pitch and into the transfer market.
The Merseyside clubs are duking it out for Paris Saint-Germain starlet Presnel Kimpembe, RMC Sport report.
The 21-year-old centre-half broke into the PSG first-team in 2015-16, making nine appearances in all competitions. He followed this up with 28 appearances last season, including in the 4-0 win over Barcelona in the UCL.
Bolstering the defence
Liverpool are desperate to get a top-class centre-back in before the season starts. With the prospect of signing Virgil van Dijk looking doubtful, they’re considering a bid for Kimpembe as an alternative.
Everton have already strengthened their defence with the signing of Michael Keane from Burnley. However, the club are backing Ronald Koeman to bring in quality players ahead of a challenge to qualify for the Champions League.
PSG are unlikely to sell Kimpembe, one of their brightest prospects. He has a contract until 2021.
