Photos of Everton fans selling Lionel Messi scarves ahead of their side’s clash with Burnley have emerged online.
Everton 2-0 Burnley
Marco Silva’s men welcomed the Clarets to Goodison Park last night, for the respective sides’ penultimate Premier League outing of the campaign.
Hosts Everton headed into proceedings on a solid run of form of late, having fallen to just 1 defeat across their last 6 league outings, a streak which had also seen them notch 4 victories.
The latest of these wins came 2 weeks ago, when the Merseysiders dished out a 4-0 drubbing to Manchester United.
And, when all was said and done last night, the impressive form being enjoyed by Everton continued, as the Toffees eventually emerged with a 2-0 win.
The game’s two goals came within the opening 20 minutes, as Richarlison’s deflected effort was quickly followed by Seamus Coleman’s 2nd of the season to kill the clash as a contest.
And an all-round positive night’s work for the Toffees has since seen ongoings outside of Goodison Park ahead of kick-off highlighted across social media.
As showcased below, small sections of the Everton faithful made use of their side’s latest outing to aim a less-than-subtle jibe at Merseyside rivals Liverpool:

Lionel Messi of course proved the star of the show as Barcelona all-but ended Liverpool’s Champions League hopes during the week, notching a brace en route to a 3-0 Blaugrana victory in the semi-final first-leg clash between the sides.
If Lionel Messi is on the other team, then it doesn’t matter how well you play 👽
